Building on their impressive career histories, Executive Service Corps (ESC) trains its volunteer consultants to understand the nonprofit sector and assure consistent high quality consulting and coaching practices and results for clients. REQUIRED TRAINING FOR ALL VOLUNTEERS ESC volunteers have a wealth of experience and expertise that they are willing to share with nonprofit, school and government organizations. Training helps our volunteers to shift from a management mindset to a consulting, facilitative mode and explains how to apply corporate skills, experience and knowledge to the unique needs of ESC’s clients. Orientation Workshop provides basic information and insights into the core values, programs and services, structure and operations of ESC. (1/2 day) Consulting Skills Workshop provides the volunteers with an opportunity to acquire and practice basic consulting skills such as document review and analysis, interviewing and listening skills, creating appropriate solutions and recommendations, and presentation skills. This course integrates techniques for planning and facilitating productive meetings. (2 days) ESC 101 is an introduction to the fundamentals of nonprofit governance and ESC’s four primary governance and leadership practices (board development, strategic planning, fund development and coaching). (2 ½ days) OPTIONAL ADVANCED TRAINING FOR EXPERIENCED VOLUNTEERS After the required training is completed, and typically after some ESC consulting assignment experience, selected advanced training opportunities may be available in specialized consulting areas. Board Development Training teaches consultants how to assist nonprofit leaders in making long-term, lasting improvements in their organization’s governance. (2 days) Coaching enhances the skills of experienced leaders to partner with managers to achieve organizational goals and improve professional performance. (2 days) Endowment / Planned Giving prepares consultants to help agencies perpetuate a source of ongoing funding for future needs with a ten-step endowment success model. (½ day) Focus Group Training prepares consultants to design and facilitate focus groups. (1 day) Fund Development prepares consultants to assist organizations in developing a comprehensive plan for fund development that will stabilize and grow the agency’s revenue streams.
