About ESC

Executive Service Corps of Chicago was founded in 1978 to address the growing challenges faced by nonprofit and public service agencies. We wanted to ensure that these groups had the tools and resources they needed to carry out their important work. We began pairing them with consultants who could make a difference -- executives and professionals who bring decades of skills, knowledge and life experiences to the nonprofits, schools and governments we serve.

Thirty years later, ESC has become the largest provider of technical assistance to nonprofits, schools and governments in the Chicagoland area. As a result of our efforts, more than 2,400 community organizations are better managed, more efficient, and more financially viable.

ESC in the News

Over 275 volunteers offer their services as consultants. Our volunteers are senior and middle managers and leaders from business, the professions, government, nonprofits and schools. They have the knowledge, commitment, time and energy to give back to the community by advancing the missions of organization like yours.

In addition to their vast business and management experience, our consultants are specially trained to address the unique challenges faced by nonprofits, schools and governments.

When you work with ESC, you know you are getting more than your money’s worth. Our consultants donate their time free of charge, making our services affordable for clients with limited resources.

ESC is a 501(c)(3) organization that receives most of its operating expenses from local corporations, foundations, our own volunteers, and other individuals. The moderate fee you pay covers a portion of our administrative expenses.

We are increasingly called upon to help clients implement our recommendations. And we often develop long-term relationships with our clients, working on multiple projects for them. In fact, more than half of our consulting contracts come from repeat clients and another 19 percent from referrals.
